2002 Mercedes Benz SL500
This Mercedes came into the US in NJ and was part of the Mercedes Benz corporate fleet for it's first two years. It then went through another 4 owners before landing with the current owner here in CT.
It has 102,000 miles on it and has been well maintained over the last 20 years, only averaging 5200 miles a year. It doesn't appear as though it was ever driven in any inclement weather as the under carriage is very clean.
This is a hard top convertible that is powered operated and collapses into the trunk, it is fully operational.
It came from the factory in Obsidian Black Metallic over Oyster Leather.
The Benz has a solid CarFax that shows minor damage listed in 2018 and 19. The 2018 is a small scratch on the center of the front bumper and the 2019 is a small scratch on the left rear quarter that runs into the taillight. The taillight has been repaired. Having 100K miles means there are a couple of other small chips, but nothing that takes away from the great lines of this car.
She's powered by a 5 Litre SOHC, 24 valve V8 that churns out a bit over 300HP and 330 lb ft of torque. She sits nice and low and handles wonderfully, sitting on Michelin Pilot Sports, in 285/35Z18 in back and 255/40Z18 in front.
It's a Mercedes Benz, so you know it's loaded with a ton of accessories/high end standard items. Starting with safety, it has an automatic roll bar and front and side airbags, ABS, traction control, stability control, Xenon lights, fog lights, vented front disc brakes and solid rear discs.
Inside, the Oyster leather heated seats wrap you in comfort with 10 way power adjustment and auto forward to access rear storage area behind seats. Leather wrapped steering wheel, full climate control, navigation, Bluetooth, Sirius radio, tilt/telescoping wheel, burl-wood trim, auto dimming rear view mirror, power windows, power steering, power/heated mirrors, power brakes and large, opening door pockets round out the comfort/convenience.
The 300 horses run through a shiftable, 5 speed automatic transmission with sport mode. The car also has an adjustable air ride suspension, that sometimes drops overnight (the pump and accumulator have been replaced).
All these amenities worked as they should upon my test drive.
Well serviced, these engines are known to last a long time and being driven as a summer cruiser, one can expect many years of enjoyment.
Starts up easily, idles smoothly and runs very strong. The torque really sets you back, it's something you really feel in a small car like this.
The owner has had the car for several years and has enjoyed it and now is on to something different and has decided to move her on to a new conservator.
She needs nothing to be enjoyed. If one was so inclined, a color correction performed on the paint and some deep cleaning on the interior would bring her up that little notch.
All that is needed is $13,500 to bring her home.
Any questions, to arrange a time to meet her, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Thanks for the interest.
