1977 MG-B Roadster

This little MGB has been owned by the same family  for well over 25 years and about 15 years ago the owner decided to go through the car and restore it.

The car was pulled apart, any needed rust repair (just some small bits welded in the doglegs according to his widow) , better seats were sourced, new dash board, new wiring harness , the engine came out and was rebuilt, the front rubber bumper was cut down to be not be so intrusive, new carpets installed, new top, new power brakes and to finish it all off, he sprayed the car in Torro Rosso - Ferrari Red.

If it wasn't replaced with new, it was refurbished.

In the last 15 years, roughly 15K miles have been added to the odometer which reads 76,398. While true mileage is unknown it is known that less than 20K miles are on this car.

The tires were replaced last year.

The car is a blast to drive. Turn the key, listen to the fuel pump click, give two pumps to the gas pedal, turn the key and the engine happily and easily fires to life.

The rebuilt transmission shifts easily, the brakes stop it firmly and all the lights work, wipers work, horn works.

The owner went with two SU carbs that are well tuned and they flow through a standard manifold and a 3 into 2 into 1 exhaust. While stock, it sounds throatier than stock and the tip was flare cut to direct gasses downward.

A Pertronix Flame Thrower coil and distributor were installed along with a GM style alternator and a battery cut off switch is tucked in behind the passenger seat, within easy reach of the driver so it can be shut off before getting out as an extra form of security.

The widow took it out last year on the local MG club's "Reliability Run"  and suffered a failed clutch slave cylinder, which was replaced while on the trip.

At 80 years old, and unfortunately widowed, she doesn't need multiple vehicles. She loves her MGA and her Miata - she can get in and out of those both and loves to drive them. The B is more difficult for her to drive so it has been decided to let this one go.

As mentioned, the car drives easily and sharply, very enjoyable sports car to carve the corners in. It may not be considered one of the best English sports car out there but in terms of overall fun to drive, expense and parts availability, it is difficult to find a better bang for the buck.

This Ferrari Red MGB roadster is for sale at $8500
