This beautiful Dark Jade Metallic MG-B Roadster was purchased in essence, as you see her, about 10-12 years ago.
Initially he drove her quite a bit, putting about 8000 miles on the odometer in that time, current mileage on the odometer is now at nearly 65,000, TMU.
The current owner knows that the car was originally a southern car but migrated north before he purchased it. It has been in New England, as a 3 season, fair weather driver for probably 20 years, but always garaged.
One of the previous owners went to town on the car, as it was originally Arocite (purple), but has had rust repairs done (not very obvious) and was completely repainted in the current Dark Jade Metallic. The engine was reportedly rebuilt at the same time and currently pulls over 50 psi of oil pressure on start up and doesn't drop below 30 at idle when warm. There is a Mikuni 2 barrel side draft carb and a Pico header system, finishing off in Ansa like chrome tip.
While there is light surface rust on some of the suspension pieces, there is no rot anywhere on the car.
Pull the choke a bit, pump the gas a couple times, turn the key and wait for the pump to slow and then she starts right up and settles into a throaty, 4 cylinder idle.
She shifts through the gears easily and this one, equipped with the optional overdrive unit, pretty much has 6 speeds as the OD can be utilized in both third and fourth gears.
The interior and exterior are both in very good shape, but they do show some signs of 15-20 years of wear here and there - a small chip or slight scratch, worn knobs, etc. These are all visible in the myriad photos.
As a 74, she sports the chrome bumpers and still sits with a very nice, low stance, before the bumper height was regulated to be higher.
Nothing is power in the car, but the disc brakes in front and drums in back easily pull her to a stop, the clutch grabs nice and firm and she accelerates smoothly, and because you're sitting just about 4 inches off the pavement, it feels a lot faster.
Mintor aluminum wheels in a 14x5.5 size keep unsprung weight to a minimum and I'm sure help in the spritely feel of the car.
There is tons of leg room, but with the top up, which looks like it's practically brand new, those over 6'2" will probably need to lean forward to see stop lights. Seats have very little miles on them and are still very solid and comfy, they hold you in place well, despite not being heavily bolstered.
There is full insulation under the carpets.
Lights work, gauges work, OD works, horn works, fan does work but only has one speed. Wipers currently do not operate correctly.
Other than oil changes, some brake work and a new fuel pump and filter, this owner has needed to do nothing else in order to fully enjoy her.
You'll be in the same position.
She starts easily, runs and drives great and feels very solid.
While she won't be winning any concours, her paint really shines and stands out in a crowd. She'll hold her own at local club events, cars and coffees, etc.
The asking price on this great MG-B Roadster is $12,800.
