10 Years ago the owner of this 1967 Camaro received it from his wife as a Christmas present. Awesome wife!
In the 10 years he's owned the car, he's put roughly 8000 miles on the car, had the brakes done (4 wheel drum), installed a high torque starter, upgraded the battery and made sure it was tuned and had the oil changed regularly.
Recently, while sitting outside his home, a small branch from a neighbor's tree fell on the roof, putting a small dent in the roof and tearing the vinyl top. The car was brought to a local shop where the glass (windshield and rear window) was removed, all window trim was pulled and the vinyl top was removed readying it for repair. Upon removal of the top and glass, rust was found in the window channels and along the sail panels. His insurance stated they would pay for all the damage done by the tree (fix the dent, replace the vinyl top and replace glass if needed), but were not going to pay for pre-existing damage - the rust. After getting a quote from the first shop, he brought it to another shop and rec'd a similar quote. It was too much for him pull out of pocket, so regretfully, he's decided to sell this great cruiser, as is.
The front glass got cracked while being removed, the rear glass is good. An entire set of new trim comes with it too. For someone with the skill, patching/recreating the glass channel probably isn't too big of a deal, the top could then be reinstalled and the car driven as is, as a great driver quality car.
The car was restored roughly 15-20 years ago by a previous owner so, the paint has some flaws here and there as seen in the full photo set, some touch ups, a few small chips, some minor cracking in the clear coat. Upon close inspection it's possible to see that the rear quarters were replaced, the front fenders were and some floor board repairs were made during that resto.
The 350 (reportedly a rebuilt LT-1 from a 72 Corvette- CKZ suffix) is running a 4 barrel and Edelbrock manifold along with headers and full dual exhaust. A TH350 move things back to a Chevy 10 bolt open rear.
The car came out of the Norwood, OH plant, originally in Grenada Gold and running a V8, with a black interior, black vinyl top, tinted windshield, a center console and poweglide AT listed as the options.
When the car was restored it was painted in the bright yellow with black stripes. A functioning cowl induction hood was added.
The interior remains black vinyl and is rather good condition. There is a seam separation on the driver seat and the wear one would expect on high touch areas. The headliner has a small hole and also a seam separation that has been DIY repaired. The fuel gauge is erratic but the other gauges (under dash SunPro) work correctly as do the lights, fan/heat, radio and wipers.
Turn the key and the high torque starter cranks the 350 over easily and she fires to life in a steady, solid rumble. The oil pressure at idle when warm is about 30 and climbs to over 50 when at 2500 rpm.
The car runs and drives very smoothly and with lots of power. Grip the wood Nardi steering wheel, drop her into drive and off you go. Hit the gas and watch the Autogauge column mounted tach spin up, while the TH350 does the shifting. When pressed hard she'll light up the rear tires without much issue.
The wheels are standard Chevy Rally's and the tires are BFGoodrich 235/60/R15 Front and Rear, rears are on a deeper offset wheel.
The odometer shows 38,198 miles, actual mileage is unknown, as mentioned, the current owner has put roughly 8000 miles on the car.
Do you fix up the rust, put the glass back in and enjoy her as is or dive deeper?
That's the question can answer for yourself.
The asking price is $14,900
